You have lots of options to test here: including a freebie, adding social proof to your opt-in form, creating a “long” form as found on places like QuickSprout, or keeping things relatively minimal, as we do on the Help Scout blog.
Before you go, I wanted to offer some words of encouragement that I wish someone would have told me when I began with email: when you encounter a ton of information, like what’s been shared in this guide, it is all too easy to get caught up in “bike shedding”, otherwise known as Parkinson’s law of triviality.
Go into a conversation with the contact you desire to remove from the group, or the person’s G+ profile. Hover over the profile picture/name, and a drop-down menu of the group(s) the person is in should come up. Un-select the box of the group from which you wish to remove the contact.
Add hyperlinked “end cards” to your YouTube videos that encourage people to subscribe to your channel via their email address. You can see an example of this below, to the bottom right of the video screen. You can also include links to relevant landing pages in your videos’ text captions below your published video.

Get creative. Since every business is different, some of the strategies in this guide might not work for your business if you implement them exactly as described. If you find a source of prospects from a targeted website and purchase an email list … you pretty much know they are visiting the website for certain reasons but I suppose this list could be useless too
Basically, everything begins with content. People will find your site because of your amazing content. They will keep coming back for amazing content. Your amazing content will be the foundation of what you email to them, which will be the reason they stay subscribed (or not.) It all starts with amazing content.
Do you have an app for that? I know Buffer is a popular one, but i’m looking for something that you can create a reservoir of evergreen content and the app will just pull from that on a regular basis, forever.
I use LeadPages* for the majority of my landing pages, it has split testing built in which allows you to setup a split test in a few clicks. The split testing feature requires a pro account which starts at $67/month.
The downside to LinkedIn is that it doesn’t give you email addresses to anyone who isn’t already a connection. You do have InMails if you have an upgraded account, but that’s time consuming and won’t allow you to do things on a large scale. What about everyone else?
How do you like it when you get an email in your inbox from a company you’ve never heard of? I bet that’s not the kind of company you want to work for or marketer you want to be. If someone didn’t ask to hear from you yet, it doesn’t mean they won’t want to hear from you later. It’s your job to prove to them — through helpful content and valuable offers — that they should stay up to date with your company via email. If you force your email content on anyone too early, even if you know in the depths of your soul that they’re a great fit for your products or services, you risk preemptively losing their trust and their future business.
If you purchase a list, you have no way of confirming how often those email addresses have been emailed, whether the email addresses on that list have been scrubbed for hard bounces to prevent identifying you as a spammer, or from where those email addresses originated. Are you really willing to risk not only your email deliverability, but also the reputation of your IP address and your company? Even if you find the light after purchasing or renting email lists and decide to only email those who have opted in with your company, it will take you months (or maybe years) to get your Sender Score up and rebuild the reputation of your IP.

Copywriters in general and branding advertising focus on making current and potential customers feel a certain way about the product or service. Graphic designers, web developers, and other creatives also play a crucial role in successful direct marketing.
The definition of direct marketing is the business of selling products or services directly to the public, e.g. by mail order or telephone selling, rather than through retailers. This essentially means that the product / service owner and the customer are communicating directly, without an intermediate.
And yes there are a few email transmission companies willing to take money for transmitting an email list, BUT what these companies don’t admit is the majority of your emails will either be blocked or sent to the SPAM Box … since the transmission company is blacklisted by the ISPs (AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, etc). In a nutshell, the unsuspected marketer flushes away $499 when purchasing the bogus email list … and then flushes away another few hundred dollars by paying a blacklisted company to transmit the bogus email addresses.
Do keep in mind that nothing in life (unfortunately) is ever free. So when I tell you, you can do all of these things without spending any money, it does, however, mean you are going to invest a certain amount of your own time implementing these tips.
One day I saw a representative of this company offering 5,000 email addresses for free (he’s on LinkedIn), so I figured, “OK, let’s get a peek behind the curtain here, just to see what kind of email addresses they have.”
Don’t put your profits in the hands of a third party, be in control of your email — OWN YOUR DATA, OWN YOUR AUTORESPONDERS, CONTROL YOUR INBOX DELIVERY, REPUTATION, DELIVERY SPEED and either send email for free using your SMTP or use any number of third party email senders of your choice like AMAZON SES API… No Monthly Fees!
Everyone likes the feeling of being in on something exclusive. Offer your email subscribers something only they can get. It might be a special discount. It could be access to a video, e-book or another piece of useful content. Promote the availability of this exclusive access in order to encourage more email enrollments.
When a company you’ve never heard of sends you a marketing email you probably flag them as spam or simply delete the email. Sending to a purchased email list won’t engender trust nor will it won’t create a relationship with the potential customer.
So, as an example, if you run an online store that sells sweat shirts, you may hear from your customer something like this: “I’ve bought a few other sweat shirts and they always fell apart in the wash. I’m hoping your sweat shirt will last longer!”
