If you own an ecommerce store, you have most definitely tried having products in your shop that are out of stock. It’s never a good thing, is it? Retailers lose an estimated $93 billion in annual sales because of out of stock inventory.
AWeber has a fantastic example of this copy in its 7 reasons to subscribe page, which is a great place to link to on guest posts and off-site features. In other words, an AWeber guest blogger could link directly to this page in their byline, as it will convert far better than just shuffling someone over to the blog homepage.

And while having a large list can be an invaluable resource, focus on quality over quantity. A smaller list of engaged followers is better for your business than a larger list full of followers who don’t care about you.
There are organizations called blacklists like Spamhaus as well as other filtering organizations like Cloudmark and Brightmail. Email clients like Yahoo and Gmail and Hotmail rely on them to help block spam (yay!). These blacklists leave spam traps or honeypots for shady list sellers to collect. Then, if one of those email addresses ends up in your purchased list, you’re in big trouble! It’s like having bad credit – it can take a long time and a lot of hard work to rebuild trust with blacklists and until you do, you’ll have poor delivery results even if you’ve stopped using the purchased email list.
Harvesting emails and selling them can get you in a world of trouble. CAN SPAM specifically states that it is illegal to sell and buy email addresses. It is, however, legal to rent a list, but that’s still considered sketchy.

To make the most of an otherwise unfortunate situation, you should offer to get back in touch when the product is back and add a checkbox enabling them to opt in for great offers and discounts once a month (or whatever frequency you send out newsletters)
In this tough economy, I understand how marketers are looking for a low cost way to reach their prospects, and unfortunately some are willing to risk $400 to give a low cost email list a try. However, if there’s a willingness to take that risk, then my only recommendation is to DEMAND some type of guarantee. If a list supplier is not willing to provide some type of “money-back” guarantee – then I highly recommend that a list is NOT purchased. Literally, the dollars might as well be flushed down the toilet.
I’ve yet to find a free solution for creating landing pages that is worth using. Most of the ones I’ve tried come with limited templates or it takes so long to make landing pages that look good that I may as well have paid for another tool.

I don’t think that this name brand outlet meant to be marketing outlaws, but they were. For years, they were being illegal in their practices, and they very well could have ended up with a lawsuit (or worse). The good news in all of this is that they have since remedied the errors of their ways and added an unsubscribe option to their emails (but even so, it wasn’t a one-click dream).
I want a refund! What about refunds? This question reminds me of another victim who bought a 60,000 name boat email list for just $950. A steal! So he thought. A week later his transmission company locked his account … before they even email blasted the list. Transmission company informed that their email cleansing service classified the list as a low quality list … and quality email transmission companies will NOT touch a low quality list … since doing so would damage their reputation with servers (AOL, Gmail, etc). Anyway, the victim called the email list seller for a refund, but after receiving voicemail too many times to tally … he gave up.
Take Social, you can leverage Social channels such as Facebook and Twitter to deploy campaigns (you no longer have to be a coded / programmer), there are wizard-based tools for doing this to create Apps that are publishing directly to these channels. When people respond to your App (e.g. Photo Contest, Refer-A-Friend for incentive, etc.) they opt-in to direct communications and provide an email address and address (or whatever it is you customise that you wish to capture). These people are then immediately available for your direct marketing campaigns.
You can easily link to your Mailchimp form if you are using Mailchimp. To get the link to your opt-in form you go to your Mailchimp list, click the drop down, press choose forms and then general forms.
Another form of direct marketing, insert media are marketing materials that are inserted into other communications, such as a catalog, newspaper, magazine, package, or bill. Coop or shared mail, where marketing offers from several companies are delivered via a single envelope, is also considered insert media.
Email addresses are processed to verify deliverability, and IP addresses are checked for legitimacy. We follow all CAN-SPAM laws and suppress opt-outs in compliance with the CAN-SPAM guidelines established for business data.

If you already have a pretty large database, you also likely have some contacts that have gone quite stale. If so, I recommend running a re-engagement campaign that can help you both scrub your list and prevent the kind of spam and IP issues I addressed earlier, as well as reawaken old contacts that might have forgotten about you, but would actually be great fits for sales. Select your target market – Who are you going to be marketing to? Try to get as specific and relevant as possible, only broadening your reach when you feel you need more people to reach out to. The more targeted your audience, the more targeted you can make your approach. Remember, however, that while adding data to flush out your target market is good, you need a way to actually collect this data and your audience.
– Blog’s comments. You can use the comment form to build your mailing list. Simply add an option asking the users to tick it if they want to receive your blog updates. The user has already entered their details, so it’s easy to convert them into email subscribers at this step.

So now that I’ve told you a few ways to acquire email lists, I’m going to tell you why you should acquire them through method number three above — the opt-in method in which you generate your own list of email contacts.
The most exciting thing is that you can create multiple outgoing email accounts in the hybrid software using different SMTP settings and easily switch the account in case your main SMTP undergoes any outage when you need to send an urgent campaign.
